, an artwork in MoMA’s collection. The idea for
Cow
came from Pop art dealer Ivan Karp, who suggested to Warhol, “Why don’t you paint some cows? They’re so wonderfully pastoral and such a durable image in the history of the arts.” Warhol’s assistant, the printer Gerard Malanga, chose the photograph for the work.
