This skateboard triptych features a reproduction of
Dollar Sign
(1981) by Andy Warhol, an artist in MoMA’s collection.
Dollar Sign
was inspired by Warhol’s widely known love of money—the artist came from a poor family in industrial Pittsburgh. In the early 1960s, Warhol depicted one-dollar bills in his artwork and in 1981 he returned to the theme of money with a series of drawings and paintings using the dollar-sign motif as the main focus of the artwork.
