MoMA Exclusive: This miniature white metal model represents a 500 City Car, also known as the Cinquecento, that was launched by Italy’s Fiat company in 1957 and designed by Dante Giacosa. With its compact size and rear-engine design, the Fiat 500f was conceived as an economical car for the masses. The car was wildly popular in its time, first in Italy and later throughout Europe.
The Fiat 500f Model Collectible is handmade in Bath, England by Brooklin Models, a company that has been producing model vehicles for over 40 years. The brand’s artisans create original masters from brass, working from drawings and photographs, and researching the designs by meeting with vintage vehicle owners and historians.
The Fiat 500f Model is made on a 1:28 scale and measures 1.78h x 4.15w x 1.78"d. It’s made for collectors and is not intended for children.
This miniature Fiat model closely resembles the actual 1968 Fiat 500f city car that is represented in MoMA’s collection and featured in the Museum’s exhibition
